According to a confidential source known to Techradar, Sony’s direct competitor to Oculus Rift is very close to being showcased for third party developers.
The reveal is actually so close that we can expect to see Sony’s VR project at GDC, which is being held in San Francisco in March. In addition to talking a bit about time and place, the inside-source made it clear that Sony’s hardware was in fact “very impressing.”
“The Quality and resolution is really, really good (…)” The source told Techradar. “People will definitely be impressed with what Sony has built”
Oculus Rift recently stated that they saw both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One as being “too limited” for their VR google. With this in mind, the timing of Sony’s supposed reveal at GDC is great, considering Sony can swoop in and sit on the console VR market.
