Microsoft’s Black Tusk Studios is only a single week into the development of the next addition to the Gears of War franchise.
A few days ago, Microsoft released a statement where they unveiled that they had acquired the rights for the Gears of War franchise and were looking to add to the catalogue of Gears of War games. Black Tusk, however, seems to have been held in the dark until just recently and is now only a week into development of the game.
“”Leadership team has been involved for a month but studio has only been on Gears for a week,” said Microsoft Studios head, Phil Spencer on twitter.
What this will mean for the timeframe regarding the release of the game, we can only guess. But anything less than a couple of years seems highly unlikely.
Microsoft has hired former director of production at Epic Games, Rod Fergusson to lead and oversee the development of the next addition to the successful Xbox franchise. Black Tusk has also made it clear that they are collaborating closely with Epic in order to fully implement their trademark Unreal Engine.
